Mrs. Sandra M. Rogers, age 78, of Murray, Kentucky lost her battle with Alzheimer's and passed away peacefully at home Wednesday, September 05, 2018. She was in the presence of her loving family.
She was born March 30, 1940 in Calloway County to the late Carmen and Lyda Miller
Sandra retired in 2007 from alma mater Murray State University, after 42 years of service. During her service she was active in all aspects of Murray State, serving as a judge for Ms. Murray State, serving the Board of Regents, and serving as secretary to four MSU Presidents. She served in the Alumni office under two administrations. She and her husband were avid Racer Fans and season ticket holders since the early 70's. She was a member of Memorial Baptist Church in Murray. She was also a Kentucky Colonel.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Jeanette Rogers, two brothers, Gene Miller and Jerry Miller and one grandson Miller James Darnell
Mrs. Rogers is survived by her husband, Glenn "Splinter" Rogers, whom she married June 30, 1963, in Murray; one daughter, Susan Rogers Darnell, Murray; one sister, Mrs. Anna Faye Taylor, Murray; one sister-in-law Rebecca Miller, Murray and twin granddaughters, Brooklyne and Cassandra Darnell, Murray. She is also survived by her two care givers, Phyllis Doughty and Kathy Hawkins.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m., on Saturday, September 8, 2018 in the chapel of the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home. Bro. Martin Severns will officiate with burial to follow in the Salem Baptist Church Cemetery in Lynn Grove. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 pm, on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at the funeral home.
