Ms. Sandra “Sandy” Willis, age 81, of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, passed away Friday, December 6, 2024, at Pavilion Senior Living in Lebanon, Tennessee.
Sandy was born on November 13, 1943, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Cleatus Fair and Agnes Dawson Fair. She was a retired legal secretary and a member of the Madison Church of Christ in Madison, Tennessee.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Nancy Whitlock.
Survivors include one son, Bill Willis of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; one daughter, Paige Hagar and her husband Marty of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee; three grandchildren (who called her “Sanny”), Brooke McLean and her husband Race McLean of Madison, Tennessee, and Brittany and Brynn Hagar of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee. Joyce D. was her lifelong best friend.
Sandy was a graduate of Murray High School and Murray State University. She devoted her life to the care and support of her children. She sacrificed tirelessly to give them a full and rich childhood and continued in her rock solid support of them throughout their adult lives. She never failed to be at every event, every ballgame, and every memorable moment. She also poured into the lives of her granddaughters and delighted in finding the most perfect and unique gifts for them.
Her immense love for the dogs fortunate enough to be called hers cannot be overstated. She connected to and cared for Micki, Amos, Alley and Sammy in a way that properly reflected her steadfastness.
She took great pride in her many years of diligent and dutiful work at Constangy, Brooks & Smith and later Waller, Landsten Dortch & Davis, where her reliability and strong work ethic made her an integral part of the team.
In addition to her family and her dogs, she enjoyed puzzles, reading music by Yanni and tending to her yard, cutting her own grass and endlessly trimming and dealing with the overabundance of leaves well into her advanced age.
Her family never sat down to turkey on Thanksgiving, as it was her hallmark to try new and different things each year including lobster, chateaubriand, rock cornish hens and standing rib. Many years ago, she passed the turkeyless tradition to her daughter who continues to diligently carry the unconventional Thanksgiving meal torch.
Her memory will be respected and cherished and the stories will continue to be told throughout the generations.
