(Elmer) Scott Welch was born February 22, 1923 in Kansas and died September 14th, 2018 in Murray, Kentucky.
Scott was a highly decorated B-17 Pilot during WWII, receiving the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Purple Heart among other honors. He worked as a Process Design Engineer for most of his life. He attended New Life Church in Murray.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 74 years, Phyllis Mary (Mlsna) Welch, his brother John (Pat) Welch, daughters, Nancy Carol Kletzien (Daniel), Linda Marie Haag (Charles), grandchildren, Sandra Eiler, Katie Rogers (Jeff), Adam Haag (Jamie), Greg Kletzien, Eric Kletzien, Christopher Kletzien (Carla), great grandchildren, Ariana Eiler, Mary and Mason Rogers, Brionna Elzey Haag, Alec and Anna Haag, and one great-great grandchild, Marley Jo Haag. Scott was preceded in death by sisters, Jeanne Warren and Freda Rasmussen, one grandchild, Curtis Kletzien, and two brothers-in-law, Laddie Mlsna and Otto Mlsna.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m., on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home. Mark Welch, Karen Welch, and Michael Pickens will officiate. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m., on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home.
