Mrs. Shawn Brockhoff Maxwell, age 68, of Murray, Kentucky, died Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at the Murray Calloway County Hospital.
She was the daughter of Paul Charles Brockhoff and Shirley Hechler Brockhoff McIntire of Cincinnati, Ohio.
Her Husband of 37 years, Thomas James Maxwell, of Leeds New York, preceded her in death in October 2015.
Shawn is survived by one brother, Kim Brockhoff and wife Betty of Dry Ridge, KY; two nephews, Luke Brockhoff (Kate) and Scott Brockhoff (Carolyn).
Even though she was degreed in Nutrition from Murray State University, Shawn devoted her entire life to animal welfare. She owned and operated Tenders Pet Sitting Service for 30 years and was the volunteer director of the Calloway County Animal Shelter for 12 years. She served on the Humane Society Board for 20 years and the Habitat for Humanity Board for 15 years. Other services included the Adult Literacy, Friends of the Library and Master Gardener Boards.
As a Master Gardener, Shawn found sanctuary and devoted much of her life to preserving her gardens and sharing plants with others.
No service is planned at the request of the Mrs. Maxwell. Expressions of sympathy, Shawn requested that you spay a shelter animal or purchase a living plant for a friend.
