Mr. Starkie W. Hall, age 100, of Murray, Kentucky, died Friday, January 13, 2017 at the Anna Mae Owens Hospice House in Murray.
Mr. Hall was born on December 6, 1916 in Calloway County, Kentucky to the late Emerson Hall and Lola May Elkins Hall. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Laurene Stubblefield Hall; and one sister, Reva Dell Culpepper.
Mr.. Hall was a retired farmer and a member of the Kirksey United Methodist Church. Mr. Hall was an Army Private in World War II. He was also a member of the N.R.A, a Kentucky Colonel, and a member of the Murray Masonic Lodge #105 F&AM. A key point in Mr. Halls life was a trip to South Korea. While in Korea, he visited Panmunjom where he stood in North Korea.
Survivors include one daughter, Donna Fair of Pearland, Texas; two sons, Bobby Hall and wife Sue of Murray, Kentucky and JW Hall and wife Irene of Murray, Kentucky; one brother, Robert Hall of Murray, Kentucky; three grandchildren, Clint Hall and wife Seongkeun of Southside, Tennessee, Karen Workman of Murray, Kentucky, and Ashley Croft and husband John of Houston, Texas; three great-grandchildren, CJ Hall, Shannon Stancil and husband Christopher, and Jongmi Mason also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 19, 2017 at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home. Rev. David Allbritten will officiate and burial will follow in the Elm Grove Cemetery. Military honors will be performed by the American Legion post #73. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home, Masonic rites will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home.
