Sue Cohoon Lovett

July 8, 1931 — April 21, 2019

Sue Cohoon Lovett of Murray passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2019 at Spring Creek Healthcare in Murray, Kentucky. She was born on July 8, 1931 in Calloway County to Nathan Euphrey Cohoon and Nova Andrus Cohoon. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers Joe Nelson Cohoon, Otis Dale Cohoon and sister Thelma James.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Lamon Joseph Lovett and daughters Gena Ryan (Dan) of Franklin, TN and Laurie Novak (Bill) of Brentwood, TN. She is also survived by four grandsons, Daniel (Molly) Ryan of Nashville, TN, Matthew (Lauren) Ryan of Washington, DC, Connor Novak and Wilson Novak of Brentwood, TN. She is also survived by her devoted sister, Jane Stokes of Murray, and loving nieces and nephews.

Sue was a graduate of the Murray Training School. She was employed by Tappan before working alongside her husband for many years at Lovett Brothers Gulf/BP. She was also a life-long member of Elm Grove Baptist Church, where she served as the first woman trustee and as a Sunday school teacher. Sue enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandsons. She was an excellent cook and gardener and was an avid fan of University of Kentucky and Murray State basketball, as well as the St. Louis Cardinals.

Pallbearers will be, Dan Ryan, Bill Novak, Daniel Ryan, Matthew Ryan, Connor Novak, Wilson Novak, Barry Stokes, and Jason Lovett.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, April 25, 2019 at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home with Bro. Brad Burns and Rev. Jim Stahler officiating. Burial will follow in the Elm Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home.
