Mrs. Sue Phillips Veazey, age 87, died Sunday, October 5, 2014 in Murray, Kentucky.
Born February 28, 1927, in Detroit, Michigan, she was the daughter of the late Leon J. Phillips and Jessie Orr Phillips.
In 1948 she married Jerry Dumas Veazey of Paris, TN. They enjoyed a full life together until his death in 2004.
Survivors include her two sons, Jim Veazey and wife Cornelia of Greenville, South Carolina; Craig Veazey and wife Suzie of Weddington, North Carolina; five granddaughters, Sarah Veazey Schumacher and husband Jeremy of Edmonds, Washington; Erin Veazey Hudson and husband Josh of Greenville, South Carolina; Anne Veazey currently residing in Brazil; Claire Veazey of Chapel Hill, North Carolina; Rachel Veazey of Greensboro, North Carolina; four great grandchildren, Lauren and Andrew Schumacher, Charlie and Madigan Hudson. Other special survivors are brother, Bill Phillips and wife Nancy of Murray, Kentucky.
Mrs. Veazey was an elementary school teacher for 25 years in Chattanooga, Tennessee. She was a member of South Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir as well as being a member of United Methodist Women.
Funeral will be held Saturday, October 11 at 2:00 pm in the chapel at J. H. Churchill Funeral Home. Burial to follow at South Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church. Friends may call on the family on Friday, October 10 from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm at J. H. Churchill.
