Susan Ellen Brown

Ms. Susan Ellen Brown, age 59, of Murray, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, July 28, 2024, at the Anna Mae Owen Residential Hospice House.

 Susan was born on December 13, 1964, in Topeka, Kansas and raised in Prairie Village, Kansas. She was a graduate of the University of Kansas with a Master’s degree in Audiology. She split her time between diagnostic and classroom work teaching audiology for 23 years at Murray State University. She served 9 years as commissioner for the Kentucky Commission on the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. Susan was also a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Murray, Kentucky.

 Survivors include her parents, Orvis and Nita Brown of Overland Park, Kansas; two brothers, Tim Brown (Amy) of Overland Park, Kansas and Steve Brown (Jennifer) of Columbus, Ohio; two aunts, Peggy McCasland of Fairview Heights, Illinois, and Patti Hammitt of Nixa, Missouri; nieces and nephew Carly, Riley, Hannah, and Zachary.

Susan was preceded in death by her grandparents, Melrose and Roberta McCasland of Fairview Heights, Illinois, and Benjamin and Eulain Brown of Calloway County, Kentucky.

 A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 2, 2024, at St. John’s Episcopal Church. Visitation will follow in St. John’s Parish Hall.
