Mr. Thomas J. Horton, 77 of Murray, Ky., formerly of Owensboro, Ky., died Sunday, July 24, 2011 at his home.
He was a retired machinist for Alcoa Aluminum Company after 25 years of service, and was an Air force veteran of the Korean War, and a member of the Panther Creek Baptist Church in Owensboro, Ky. Born Nov. 5, 1933 in Owensboro, Ky.
Mr. Horton was known as “T.J.” to his friends and family. He enjoyed playing his guitar and was an avid fan of car racing and motorcycle racing. He enjoyed most of all spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Alice Redmon Horton of Murray, Ky., two daughters, Cyndee Carman (Bruce) of Murray, Ky., Laura Olinde (James) of Bethpage, Tn., son, Thomas Jefferson Horton Jr. (Debbie) of Maceo, Ky., sister, Anna Clark (R.W.) of Owensboro, Ky., brother, Charlie Horton (Mickey) of Owensboro, Ky., six grandchildren, Eric Horton (Jenny) of Uniontown, Ky., Heather Hayden (Rick) of Owensboro, Ky., Allison Carman Mize of Jupiter, Fl., Clay Carman of Murray, Ky., and Alexandria and Adam Olinde of Bethpage, Tn., five great grandchildren, Michael Hayden of Owensboro, Ky., Garrison Hurter and Savannah Horton both of Uniontown, Ky., Cade Carman Mize and Cooper Carman Mize both of Jupiter, Fl.
A Memorial service will be held Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home, Eric Kelleher officiating.
