On the morning of Saturday, November 16, 2024, Troy Stovall left his earthly family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Michelle Stovall; one son, Seth Stovall; one daughter, Jillian Stovall; his mom, Reba Vogel; as well as one stepbrother, Derek Vogel.
Preceding him in death were his dad, Gerald Stovall; one brother, Tim Stovall; as well as his stepdad, Bob Vogel.
Anyone who knew Troy knows if there is any negotiating in heaven, he’s getting the better deal. Troy was an accomplished businessman, entrepreneur, builder, and landlord. He was a hard worker and thrived on wheeling and dealing. He started the trend of one-bedroom apartments in Murray. Troy loved to tell the story that shortly after building his first few buildings, tenants were getting knocks on their doors. A few men entered with measuring tapes, stealing his plans. Soon after, they all started building their own and the idea began to explode and continues to this day. He later became friends with those landlords and many others in town who looked up to him. He had a lot of wisdom to share and taught many other local entrepreneurs the rules of the road. Troy took pride in making friends with his tenants through the years and kept in touch with many of them. He was a smart businessman and was known for his ability to turn junk into gold. While he wasn’t a salesman by trade, he could sell about anything and make a profit. A funny memory he left his family with is while on vacation, a local peddler was putting on a sales pitch for him to buy some of his things. Troy ended up actually selling the peddler all the beach toys they acquired that wouldn’t fit on the airplane. While pride is taken in all his success, most importantly Troy was a good friend and a family man. He loved his family and friends and would do most anything for them. He has left us with a legacy that deserves to be celebrated.
A private graveside service will be held for those closest to him followed by a celebration of life. The celebration of life will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at the Yates Event Center, 2760 State Route 121 North, Murray, KY 42071. Light refreshments will be served and there will be a casual atmosphere. Please bring your best memories and leave them for the family.
The family has experienced such profound acts of love and kind gestures that in lieu of flowers or gifts, they want to ask that you pay those acts forward and ask that family and friends perform a random act or kindness in his name.
