Vera F. Bassett

Ms. Vera F. Bassett, 91, of New Concord, Kentucky died Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at Spring Creek Health Care in Murray.
Ms. Bassett was born in Arcola, Illinois on March 22, 1921 to the late Coleman Mattingly and Bertha Harris Mattingly Harrington. Ms. Bassett was of the Methodist faith.
In addition to her parents Ms. Bassett was preceded in death by three brothers, Richard Mattingly, Bob Mattingly, and Bill Mattingly; as well as a son in law, Phil Derby.
Ms. Bassett is survived by two daughters, Kay Derby of Murray and Lydia Turner and husband Willie of New Concord; one son, Larry Bassett and wife Brenda of New Concord; one sister, Lorene Rollings of Peoria, Illinois; nine grandchildren, Debbie Daniels and fiancé Terry Darnell of Mayfield, Kentucky, Eric Derby and wife Tammie of Murray, Tina Cox and husband Shane of Murray, Bernita "Charlie" Barborka and husband Frankie of Murray, Connie Buberle and friend Gary Vilt of Dwight, Illinois, Bruce Derby and wife Joyce of Coal City, Illinois, Phillip Derby, Jr. and wife Nancy of Urbana, Illinois, Robin Kruckeberg and husband Dick of Sullivan, Illinois, and Kirk Bassett and wife Nikki of Sullivan, Illinois; twenty five great grandchildren and thirty great great grandchildren also survive.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, July 26, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Hicks Cemetery with Rev. Kerry Lambert officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday, July 26, 2012 from 10-11 a.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home.
