Vesta Leon Shelton

Mr. Vesta Leon Shelton, 97, of Hazel, Kentucky died Sunday, April 20, 2014 at his home.
Mr. Shelton was born March 27, 1917 in Calloway Co. Ky., to the late Jessie and Verna Swift Shelton. He retired from B.F. Goodrich, and was a retired farmer. He was a member of the Hazel Baptist Church, and was an Army Veteran of WWII.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Shelton was preceded in death by two daughters, Mary Sue Brandon, and Janice Shelton Meadows, also four brothers, and one sister.
Survivors include his wife, Billie Jo Shelton of Hazel, Ky., they married April 26, 1947 in Corinth, Ms., two daughters, Diane Shelton Scott of Hazel, Ky., Joni Shelton Beard of New Concord, Ky., six grandchildren, Christy Lynn Garland, Tasha Jo Beard, Tammy Merrell, Lisa Crass, April Meadows, and Dustin Beard all of Murray, also eight great grandchildren, and five great great grandchildren, and one niece survive.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home, Bro. Tim Cole and Bro. Hal Shipley will officiate, with entombment to follow at the Murray Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 22, 2014 from 5-8 p.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home.
