Mrs. Virginia Ann Schwettman, lovingly known as “Cotton” to her friends, age 83, of Murray, Kentucky, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family, Saturday, April 20, 2024, at the Marshall County Hospital in Benton, Kentucky.
She was born on December 24, 1940, in Memphis, Tennessee to the late Thomas Webb and Helen (Grier) Webb. Mrs. Schwettman was a retired culinary arts teacher at the Murray-Calloway County Vocational School, homemaker, and entrepreneur. Mrs. Schwettman helped start and operate multiple businesses throughout her lifetime. She was a member of the Murray First United Methodist Church, where she served on several youth mission trips. Mrs. Schwettman was an avid Murray State Racer basketball fan.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Eddie Schwettman.
Survivors include one daughter, Leslie Schwettman of Murray, Kentucky; Tom Schwettman and wife Danielle and Craig Schwettman and wife Lorri all of Murray, Kentucky; one sister, Janice Vinson of McLemoresville, Tennessee; seven grandchildren, Logan Schwettman of College Grove, Tennessee, Madison Talton of Bowling Green, Kentucky, Garrett Schwettman of Bowling Green, Kentucky, Will Schwettman of West Palm, Florida, Taylor Lovett of Davenport, Florida, Logan Parker of Irondale, Alabama, and Landon Arnett of Paducah, Kentucky; nine great grandchildren, Nelson and Graham Schwettman, Sadie and Samuel Talton, Ella Schwettman, Bodhi and Violet Schwettman, Cameron and Collins Parker; one niece Stephanie Vinson-Walls, two great nieces, one great nephew, and one great-great niece.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 25, 2024, at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Bro. Brett Miles officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home & Cremation Services. An additional visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m., Thursday, April 25, 2024, at the McLemoresville United Methodist Church in McLemoresville, Tennessee with a graveside service to follow at 3:00 p.m. in the McLemoresville Cemetery.
