Waburn Royce Wyatt

Mr. Waburn Royce Wyatt, 74, of Murray, KY, died Tuesday, January 15, 2013, at his residence on his farm in Stella, KY. He was born in Marshall County, KY, February 24, 1938, the son of the late Will Wyatt and Joyce Green Wyatt. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Mae Young Wyatt, in 2009, and his brother, Walter Clay Wyatt, in 2010. He was a member of West Fork Baptist Church in Murray.
As a proud member of the 1957 graduating class of Kirksey High School, Mr. Wyatt enjoyed the fellowship and friendship at each monthly breakfast and dinner. In 2003, he retired with over 40 years of dedicated service to the West KY Rural Electric Cooperative Corporation; he had been a member of the Murray Masonic Lodge for over 50 years. He was a loyal supporter of Calloway County Schools and wore Laker red with pride, especially during basketball season. As a retired tobacco farmer, Mr. Wyatt enjoyed learning the latest news and weather reports at the Kirksey Grocery. He loved children of all ages and enjoyed giving them dollars, M & M's, and popcorn. His hobbies included gardening, fishing and farming.
Survivors include one daughter, Stephanie Wyatt, of Murray; two sons, Kerry Royce Wyatt and wife Rachel, of Paoli, IN, and Terry Dale Wyatt and wife Kim, of Murray; two grandchildren, Tanner Dale Wyatt and Bridget Swatzell, both of Murray; one brother-in-law, Larry Dale Young and wife Joy, of Kirksey; one aunt, Freda Smith, of Mayfield; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 19, 2013 in the chapel of J.H. Churchill Funeral Home. Reverend Wayne Carter will officiate. Active pallbearers are Tanner Wyatt, Jason Young, Cloyd J. Bumgardner, Garrie Green, Tommy Futrell, Dennis Green, Tommy Melvin, Kenneth Mohler, Kenny Hale and Jimmy Bailey. Honorary pallbearers include Gerald Gallimore, Dr. Dan Miller and office staff (Ginger, Lea Ann, Kelley and Laura), and the 1957 Graduating Class from Kirksey High School. Burial will follow in West Fork Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday, January 18, 2013 after 4:30 pm. at the funeral home.
