Mr. Walter Edgar Rhodes, age 81, of Murray, Kentucky, died Thursday, April 13, 2017 at the Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee.
Mr. Rhodes was born in Puryear, Tennessee on July 25, 1935 to the late William Armstead "Pete" Rhodes and Frankie "Tippy" Hortence (Willoughby) Rhodes. Mr. Rhodes before retiring was a self-employed used car dealer in Murray and he was a member of the Hazel Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents Mr. Rhodes was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou Rhodes; and by one brother, Charles Rhodes.
Mr. Rhodes is survived by one daughter, Debbie Black of Murray, Kentucky; one son, Eddie Rhodes and wife Kay of Knoxville, Tennessee; two sisters-in-law, Nancy Rhodes of Murray, Kentucky and Dyanne Dowdy of Troy, Michigan; one grandchild, Chandler Black of Reston, Virginia; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Vacca and Rev. Kerry Lambert officiating. Entombment will follow in the Murray City Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 17, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home.
