Mr. Walter Andrew "Andy" Shipp, 71, died Tuesday, March 26 at Murray Calloway County Hospital. He was born in Columbus, GA on May 5, 1947 and was preceded in death by his mother, Layvonne Brooks Day, Stepfather, Bill Day and grandparents, Annie Brooks and Roy Andrew Brooks. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Brenda Hardy Shipp, daughter Staci Koenig & husband, Steve, two precious grandchildren, Caroline and Carter Koenig, all of Murray, two sisters, Donna Kelly & husband, Ben of Auburn, AL and Ann Nation & husband, Rob of Lexington, KY and several nieces and a nephew. He graduated from Auburn University in 1970 with a BS degree in Chemical Engineering. He was the Plant Engineer at Vanderbilt Chemicals Co. for 29 years before retiring due to illness. An avid Model A enthusiast, he was a member of the West Kentucky Model A Restorers Club. Mr. Shipp was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Murray.
The funeral will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 30, 2019 at First United Methodist Church with Dr. Rick Dye & Rev. Jim Stahler officiating. Burial will follow in the Murray City Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday, March 30, 2019 from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. at the church.
Pallbearers will be Steve Koenig, Ronnie Pool, Ronnie Shemwell, Worth Shemwell and Chad Wortham.
