Wanda F. Johnson

Mrs. Wanda Faye Garrett Johnson, age 70 of Murray, Kentucky, passed away on September 6, 2023, at the Baptist Health Hospital in Paducah, Kentucky. Mrs. Johnson was born on December 30, 1952, to Faye Garrett and the late Rev. Coy Garrett in Booneville, Mississippi.

Mrs. Johnson was a graduate of Murray State University, receiving both her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees there. She was a proud member of the Kentucky Education Association and National Education Association, having taught throughout her career at her alma mater, Calloway County High School. She was a dedicated member of the Kirksey United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by her mother, her husband, Danny Johnson of Murray, Kentucky, her sons, Mark Johnson of Jackson, Georgia and Kevin Johnson of Murray, Kentucky, her brother Edwin Garrett and wife Karen of Greenville, North Carolina, her grandchildren Lily Johnson and Colton Johnson of Murray, Kentucky, as well as several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home and Cremation Services on Sunday, September 10, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. April Arnold officiating.  A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2023, from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home and Cremation Services.  There will also be a visitation held on Monday, September 11, 2023, from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. at the Siloam Methodist Church in Marietta, Mississippi. A graveside service will immediately follow in the Siloam Methodist Church Cemetery in Marietta, Mississippi.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy go to the Murray-Calloway County Need Line, 509 North 8^th Street, Murray, Kentucky 42071 where Mrs. Johnson was a volunteer.
