Mr. Warren Darrell Mathis age 85, of Murray, Kentucky, died Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at his home.
Mr. Mathis retired from the Tappan Stove Manufacturing Company. He was a member of the New Providence Church of Christ and was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.
He was born May 8, 1929 in Stewart County, Tennessee to the late Curn and Edith Sills Mathis. In addition to his parents Mr. Mathis was preceded in death by two sisters, Sarah Duke and Edna Barrow; and by five brothers, Max Mathis, Gene Mathis, Wayne Mathis, Norman Mathis and Carter Mathis.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia L. Mathis of Murray, Kentucky, to whom he married on October 13, 1951 in Corinth Mississippi; two daughters, Ann Eddings and husband David of Boaz, Kentucky and Lisa Spann and husband Rick of Murray, Kentucky; three sisters, Juanita Barrow of Murray, Kentucky, Sybil Barrow and husband Leon of Murray, Kentucky and Sue Sills and husband Ronnie of Murray, Kentucky; one brother, Nesbitt Mathis of Murray, Kentucky; seven grandchildren, Stephanie Summerlott and husband Adam of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Shanna Spann of Murray, Kentucky, Joel Eddings of Boaz, Kentucky, Shaun Spann and wife Abigail of Murray, Kentucky, Peter Eddings of Shreveport, Louisiana, Noah Eddings of Richmond, Kentucky and Samantha Spann of Murray, Kentucky; as well as two step grandchildren and eight step great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 24, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home. John Dale will officiate with burial to follow in the Murray Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 23, 2014 after 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
