Mr. Webb Caldwell

Mr. Webb Caldwell, age 82, of Murray, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, June 22, 2024, at Baptist Health in Paducah, Kentucky.

Mr. Caldwell was born on January 9, 1942, in St. Louis, Missouri, to the late Finis Jay Caldwell, Sr. and Clair Elizabeth (Smith) Caldwell. He was the owner of Caldwell Vending Company for over 25 years and was a member of the Benton Church of Christ. 

Survivors include his wife, Julia Ann (Miller) Caldwell of Murray, Kentucky; they married on June 25, 1988, in Reddington, Indiana; two daughters, Lori Cosby and husband Kevin of Bonnieville, Kentucky and Kara (Karen) Norman and husband Richard of San Diego, California; one son, Michael Caldwell and wife Beth of Murray, Kentucky; one brother, Finis Jay Caldwell, Jr. of Kennett, Missouri; as well as six grandchildren, Tyler Colson and wife Erin, Nathan Smith, Sarah Cosby, Rachel Cosby, Reece Norman, and Kate Norman.

Webb grew up learning many valuable life lessons from his father who was an elder in the church, an avid fisherman, a hunter, and a businessman. Webb’s love of the Lord developed there, as did his enjoyment of the outdoors such as fishing and various types of hunting. 

His love of family was a major force in his life, second only to his love of the Lord’s church where he taught the sixth-grade boys’ class for many years. One of his greatest pleasures was talking to and encouraging other members. He would talk about the Lord to all he met, including his nurses in his last stay in the ICU.

He took pleasure in traveling, especially when it involved fishing and hunting. He learned to enjoy snow skiing because his wife loved the sport. His “trip of a lifetime” included salmon fishing in Alaska. 

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, June 29, 2024, at the Benton Church of Christ in Benton, Kentucky. Mark Ray will officiate, and burial will follow in the Benton Church of Christ Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Friday, June 28, 2024, at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home & Cremation Services. An additional visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m., Saturday, June 29, 2024, at the Benton Church of Christ in Benton, Kentucky.
