Mr. Will D. Thornton, age 81, of Murray, Kentucky died at his home on Sunday, June 11, 2017.
Mr. Thornton was born in Murray, Kentucky on June 21, 1935 to the late Joe Howell Thornton and Lucile (Downs) Thornton. Mr. Thornton was the owner and founder of Thornton Tile and Marble in Murray and a member of the First Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents Mr. Thornton was preceded in death by one brother, Bobby Joe Thornton; and by a son-in-law, Brad Barnett.
Mr. Thornton is survived by his wife, Anita (Templeton) Thornton, to whom he married on May 7, 1955 in Corinth, Mississippi; three daughters, Sheri Wright and husband James of Paducah, Kentucky, Becky Brown and DeAnn Barnett; one son, Will Downs Thornton, Jr.; and one sister, Janice Thornton all of Murray, Kentucky; six grandchildren, Bethany Wright Edwards and husband Aaron, Kathryn Wright Thomas and husband Nathan, Robert Hunter Brown, Will Tyler Brown, Claire Barnett Wyatt and husband Tanner and Faith Hastings Thornton; as well as six great grandchildren, AnnaClaire, Emerson and Palmer Edwards, Hastings and William Thomas and Kason Wyatt.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home. A family graveside service will be held at the Thornton Farm in New Concord, Kentucky on Thursday, June 15, 2017.
