William "Howard" Downs

Mr. William "Howard" Downs, age 84, of Murray, Kentucky died on Sunday, July 9, 2017 at the Murray Calloway County Hospital.
Mr. Downs was born in Stewart County, Tennessee on October 18, 1932 to the late William Irvin Downs and Gertie Chadwick Downs. He was a commercial fisherman and attended Poplar Springs Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Christine "Rube" Downs; one sister, Myrtle Hicks; and one brother, Bruce Downs.
Survivors include a daughter, Shelia Dix and husband Phillip of Dexter, Kentucky; one son, Bobby Hale and wife Martha of Murray, Kentucky; two sisters, Dorothy Nunn of Dover, Tennessee, and Ocie Pearl Birdsong and husband Conroy of Murray, Kentucky; one brother, Tony Downs of Dover, Tennessee; three grandchildren, Chris Hale and wife Annette of Murray, Kentucky, Stephanie Love of Dexter, Kentucky, and Dustin Dix and wife Susan of Hazel, Kentucky; also surviving are four great-grandchildren, Sylvia Hale, Daniel Hale, Timothy Dix and Abigail Dix.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 13, 2017 at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home with Rev. Joe Pat Winchester officiating. Burial will follow in the Williams-Billington Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 from 5-8 p.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home.
