Dr. William Glynn Mangold, age 63, of Murray, Kentucky, died Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at his home.
Dr. Mangold was born in Fulton, Kentucky on September 11, 1952 to the late William Chester Mangold and Ruby Irene (Davie) Mangold. Dr. Mangold, whose passion was teaching, was Distinguished Professor of Marketing and Emerging Technologies in the Department of Management, Marketing and Business Administration at Murray State University. He received the Regents' Teaching Award in 2015 and was honored as Murray State's Distinguished Researcher in 2013. He was a follower of Christ and member of First Baptist Church Murray. He served on the boards of Murray Christian Fellowship and Murray Calloway County Soccer Association.
Dr. Mangold is survived by his wife, Dr. Melissa Mangold of Murray, Kentucky, to whom he was married on August 1, 1981 in Memphis, Tennessee; as well as one son, Michael Glynn Mangold and fiancé Brett Ellen Watson, both of Murray, Kentucky.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 28, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Murray, Kentucky. Rev. Keith Inman and Rev. Michael Pickens will officiate with eulogy by Dr. Murphy Smith. Burial will follow in the Murray City Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 27, 2016 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home. Visitation will also be held on Saturday, May 28, 2016 from 11:00 a.m. until funeral hour (1:00 p.m.) at First Baptist Church in Murray.
