Mr. William N. "Bill" McLemore age 76 of Murray, Kentucky died Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at the Murray Calloway County Hospital
Mr. McLemore was born December 6, 1939 in Murphy, North Carolina to the late Oliver C. and Josephine Grisham McLemore. In addition to his parents he is also preceded in death by one brother Oliver C. "Mac" McLemore.
Bill was a retired district fishery biologist with the state of Kentucky after 28 years of service. Bill got his first taste of what fish and wildlife was all about from officer J.O. Reeves and federal fish and wildlife agents Bill Lee and Willie Parker. In 1963 Bill was hired by Frank Phipps who was the law enforcement director at that time for the Calloway County Conservation Office. Bill was a graduate of Murray State University earning a Master's Degree. In the summer of 1967 Bill and Dr. John C. William conducted a study of the Ohio River mussels. Bill was also an Army Veteran and a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ruth Ann Miller McLemore of Murray, Kentucky, they married September 10, 1966 in Owensboro, Kentucky; two sons Jeff Parks of Murray, Kentucky and Andy McLemore of Murray, Kentucky; two grandchildren, Eric Parks of Murray, Kentucky and Kristen Lee Parks of Murray, Kentucky; one great grandchild, Chandler Crouch of Murray, Kentucky; nephew, Mark McLemore and wife Linda of Murray; niece, Cindy S. Thompson of Owensboro, Kentucky, and several cousins.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 1, 2016 at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home. Rev. Jim Stahler and Dr. Rick Dye will officiate, and burial will follow in the Murray City Cemetery. Visitation will be held 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 1, 2016.
