Mrs. Wilma Stark Beatty, age 84, of Murray, Kentucky, died Thursday, July 12, 2018 at the Baptist Health Hospital in Paducah, Kentucky.
Mrs. Beatty was born in Detroit, Michigan on April 19, 1934 to the late William K. Stark and Florence Pearl (Proctor) Stark. Mrs. Beatty was a retired school teacher from the Murray Independent School District. Mrs. Beatty was a member of the First Baptist Church. There she was a member of the Phoebian Sunday School Class and had taught children's Sunday school for 36 years. She was also a member of the Women's Missionary Union and served as the director, a member of the Sharon Wells Mission Group, a member of the Murray Woman's Club for 36 years, a member of the Wendell Oury Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and was a 4-H volunteer.
In addition to her parents Mrs. Beatty was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard W. Stark and Douglas H. Stark.
Mrs. Beatty is survived by her husband Dr. Durwood William Beatty, to whom she married on December 18, 1953 in Manchester, Michigan; two daughters, Laurie Beatty Shook and husband Steve of Plano, Texas and Lynne M. Beatty of Lawrence, Kansas; one son, Steven Allan Beatty and partner Daniel Selby of Bellevue, Nebraska; one sister, Lois Stark Wacker and husband George of Manchester, Michigan; one brother, Len K. Stark and wife Anna of Fairfield Glade, Tennessee; one sister-in-law, Annie R. Stark of Ossineke, Michigan; as well as two grandchildren, Christopher B. Shook and wife Jahyun Kang of Plano, Texas and Ben B. Shook of Plano, Texas.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 16, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Keith Inman and Rev. Boyd Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Murray City Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 15, 2018 from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home. There will also be a visitation on Monday, July 16, 2018 prior to the funeral service from 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church.
